98 taurus transmission issues

Hi all I just got my 98 taurus from the shop for a transmission rebuild the car ran great before it s tarted slipping now I got it back and after a l ong fun it started to act up in 3rd gear it had baffeled so I started my o wn investigation on the car and found range vss sen is very very close to t he back exhaust pipe and I believe the heat is affecting the vss sencer so I wrapped the pipe frount and back and never had the problem again hope thi s info helps

What did you wrap the exhaust pipe with? And is this position of the vehicl e speed sensor normal?
