How Do Self Adjusters Turn

Sep 06, 2003 1 Replies

The self adjusting wheel on the self adjuster what causes it to turn so that it knows where to set itself. There is a plate against the sprocket wheel , is it this that sets the distance?

Thanks in advance Denny B

The plate moves against the sprocket when the pads move. As the pads wear, the plate moves more, engaging the tooth on the sprocket making it turn a little. It won't over adjust by design.
