Ho do Self Adjusters Turn

Sep 06, 2003 2 Replies

The self adjusting wheel on the self adjuster what causes it to turn so that it knows where to set itself. There is a plate against the sprocket wheel , is it this that sets the distance?

Thanks in advance Denny B

Just to add a little, it uses a cable from the top hooked on one shoe pivot to pull up the adjuster bar if needed.

The right answer is that it depends on the system. On some it self adjusts when you use the emergency brake lever (aka handbrake). On other's its when you use the brake pedal while going in reverse. There may be other systems, too.

Suffice it to say that n>The self adjusting wheel on the self adjuster
