OEM ignition wires Bosch?? Ford Contour

Sep 26, 2005 3 Replies

I am looking for some OEM parts to do a tune-up on a 1998 ford Contour.

Some of the discount online shops are listing the OEM as Bosch?

Isn't the OEM motorcraft?

Any ideas for a source of online parts? Plugs, wires, fuel filters... stuff like that.

Could well be Bosch... it is The "World car", after all.

Most "Motorcraft" parts are actually made by other suppliers. Ford buys a lot of parts from Bosch, so it is very possible that Bosch makes the Motorcraft wires and that the Bosch parts are equivalent to OEM parts. It is also possible that Bosch made the OE parts to Ford specifications and the aftermarket Bosch labeled parts are made to different specifications (could be better or worse). If you want Original Equipment (OE) parts, buy them from a Ford dealer. Even aftermarket Motorcraft parts are not necessarily the same as OE parts.

This designation is sometimes used to indicate "OEM" equivalent - not OEM parts. It is sometins used to replace budget - good - better - best - premium, etc. It may or may not actually be an OEM item.
