Hi all,
I have just bought an 88E Mk3 Escort with a 1.6L CVH engine. The previous owner says it can be run on either LRP or Unleaded. Is this true and if so which is better? Anyone know anything???
Cheers, Nick

This being a UK model, presumably?
Better? If it runs on unleaded, this is considerably better for your pocket!
yes you can run on normal unleaded fuel (uk) keep away from LRP, the idea of LRP is to provide lubrication for valve seats etc where this was required in older engines. you wont do any damage since you dont have a catalyst or fuel injectors by using LRP but the ignition timing may have to be adjusted to prevent "pinking" when using this fuel. unless this was done by the previous owner.
