Jump Starting a Focus

I tried jump start a neighbors car last night from my Focus, but found I couldn't clamp the cable on the positive terminal. A second red wire and a piece of metal are in the way. Is there a work-around for this? Can you buy an adaptor for the positive terminal that will accept a jumper cable? Gary
