1991 Ranger - Transmission Extension Question

Jul 02, 2003 1 Replies

Gentlemen,

I've notice a leak (appears to be faulty gasket) where the transmisson extension bolts to the transmission (right in front of the mount cross-member mount). This is a 2WD model.

Question: Can this gasket be changed without dropping trans?

Also, I have to refill my hydraulic clutch reservoir periodically as I'm losing fluid somewhere. Any ideas as to where I might look? Reservoir is okay. I'm thinking slave cylinder which means trans drop anyway!!

Is it possible to rig up a trans jack or would I be wise to go rent one? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jack.

Your slave cylinder is leaking. Pull the trans and while your in there if the clutch has any miles on it at all you might as well replace it too. If you din't Mr. Murphy will visit you in a month or two and you'll have tp pull it again anyway. Also I know of no fix for the slave cyl. replace it.
