1999 F150 XL wipers come on by themselves? Anyone?

On older GM trucks, this was a problem with the parking circuit in the wiper motor. The parking circuit applies voltage to the motor to return the wipers to their parked position. If there was a big bump, the contact for the parking circuit would touch its counterpart on the motor, giving the motor another rotation.

I'd check for an adjustment of the motor's mount, or a removable cover on the wiper motor where the parking circuit can be accessed. If neither is present on your motor, it may be time for a replacement motor.

Note: I mention GM trucks because this was my experience with this problem...I don't have experience with a Ford doing this, but the problem sounds exactly the same.

Most likely the multifunction switch in the steering column is broken. A common problem with the F150s. The wiper delay and control all go through the main computer so the switch is a very likely cause. Try

thanks to all, i figured it was a relay or switch, but one never knows with these trucks.
