2003 F350 Diesel

"Water in fuel light" comes on. Ford service of changing the sensor and two fuel filters forestalls the problem about a week. Buying fuel at different places. Any ideas???

If you drain some fuel out of the filter housing is there water in the fuel? It will be heavier so it will be on the bottom.

Buy your fuel at a busy truckstop never at ma and pa gas stations. When you find a good station and don't have problems stick to them whenever possible.

I had a continuing problem a few years ago w/ an '89. It took quite a while to sort out, but the problem in that case was the vehicle and not the fuel. The water was getting in where the neck of the filler tube vents. A clamp solved the problem.

Don't let it go. Water in a diesel engine is deadly.

Do you open the bottom drain on the filter and check for water on a regular basis? If not that is the #1 requirement for diesel, especially if you just bought fuel at a questionable location. That said, I have even gotten bad fuel at busy truck stops.

Next, don't buy fuel from a pump that doesn't have a filter installed. Also don't buy fuel, including gasoline, while the tanker is at the station dumping fuel unless you are assured they are dumping a different fuel, because dumping fuel mixes the trash and water with the fuel while it is going on.

drain the water out of the tank, install a water seperator, and buy your fuel from a reputable dealer.

The light comes on because the water moves to the side that the sensor is on. Drain the filter and the problem does not reoccur until the water level again rises in the filter.

Conversely, a sharp turn to the right turn out the light momentarily

buy good, quality fuel from a reputable station, and you will eventually get rid of the water. for now ,add some water displacing fuel conditioner with each tank till you get rid of whats in there
