WOW what a disappointment this is...... Can't get my Ranger faster then
I've never had my '03 Ranger FX4 4.0 up to 90.... I'm guessing the speed limiting is due to Ford's fear of lawsuits due to accidents caused by failures of tires, suspension.... just about anything that they can they can be blamed for. Of course the driver is NEVER at fault.......

The speed limiter is put in to protect the driver from a rollover among other possible types of accidents. A littlw higher would have been nice indeed, but I can see why they put it in. Trucks typically become pretty unstable at high speeds, especially since they are about as aerodynamic as s*it. It's kind of like a safety feature to have that limiter built into the computer.
By the way, my '01 4x4 off road with the 4.0 has a limiter that kicks in at
Heh! Had my '03 2.3L Ranger up to three digits. Don't recommend it, BTW.

While you can roll one at 10MPH, the speed limiter was not just for tire disintegration, my truck from the factory came equipped with tires rated to
120MPH. I doubt the truck could achieve that speed without being damaged or me dying in the process but still...have you ever felt how unstable the truck feels at 90? even 85?
