I am trying to get this Truck running again. Several weeks ago it stopped running and I had a hard time getting to start. After digging around I found the Shear Pin on the Distributor had broken. It was replaced and everything was great, until...
Today, running down the highway, it just lost all compression and would barely run, it was extremely hot. We towed it in and let it sit overnight.
Went back today, pulled the distributor, just to check, everything looked fine, set it to TDC, patched up some wiring and it started right up and ran. Then, rev'd it up, it spit black smoke and died, now it will not start, almost sounds like the timing is way off.
Is it possible that it is jumping timing somehow?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
