Consoles - 1999 Ranger XLT

Feb 04, 2004 2 Replies

The Chilton manual doesn't show the same kind of front console that lives in my Ranger and I want to take it out and replace it. Trouble is there are no visible screws or bolts to remove to take it out. Does anyone know how to remove this sucker without tearing it up?

My bet it it's held in place with spring clips. Pry up a piece of trim between the door opening and the floor covering to see how it works. I'd just pry up starting at one corner and see if it starts moving. Let us know!!

Well, I got it out. Turns out that there were screws in the bottom of the two cup holders but they were the black plastic twist type about the size of a quarter. You turn each maybe half-a-revolution and it comes off. There are not more screws or clips holding it on. Problem was that someone had put some thin black plastic over the things so that the false bottom looked like the real bottom.

Thanks, chaps.
