1996 f350 PSD, has a big APC mounted under the dash (right where id like to mount my cb radio!). what purpose does this serve, is it something i can use as a regular joe, and what would happen if i unplug it and remove it? thanks!

It's used to raise the engine rpm for various reasons (avoid wet stacking in cold weather, charge protect, etc) and yes, you can simply unplug it. They sell quite well on ebay....they are NOT a cheap item from Ferd.
i guess my next question is what is wet stacking, at what temperture would i need to raise the rpm, to what rpm would it need to be raised, and where can i find out more about how to use it? thanks much!

and do some searching. Usually you need to raise the engine rpm to 1000-1200 if you're going to idle for an extended period of time.
