I have a 2005 Transit which has a bad idle. This devoloped a couple of weeks ago shortly after the alternator was replaced.This then led to the van cutting out mid way through a journey. The cure was to turn the ignition off and back on again, but later in the same journey it cut out again
I took it to a Ford dealer who at first couldn't find what was causing the problem but then decided the injectors had too much fuel returning. They tried to reprogramme the injectors but to no affect. They then diagnosed diesel contamination and replaced the diesel and fuel filter and housing
This has still not cured the occasional cut outs and bad idle
The diesel they removed did look cloudy
Is there anyway the diesel is being contaminated by the fuel being returned from the injectors? Or has anyone got any other ideas
