That little black knob blinks red periodically.Anybody know what it is?

Yes, it is the indicator to show the PAT system is working. PATS is the system that recognizes your particular keys for the vehicle. It has a chip in it coded to the truck. That knob also is used by the auto headlight system to tell when to turn on the lights.
