How To Tell If F150 Has Electronic Stability Contol?

I'm trying to figure out whether or not my 2005 F150 has ESC.

Maybe some place in the vehicle where all the build codes are printed?

Something else?

It appears that it does. You might want to read the owner's manual.

Seems like there should/might be a "build sheet" somewhere; stuffed under the dash, behind the seat, or wherever the jack is stored.

Isn't there a check light that activates in the instrument cluster when the key is rotated to the "ON" position? -----

To my knowledge, no F150 had ESC until 2009, when it became std.

Per gpsman:

Been trying to find one, but no luck so far. Maybe it's on the infamous computer box behind the rear seat - which I will probably wind up having to get to it retrieve the keyless entry code that is supposed tb printed on it.

On my 1998 Suburban, GM printed a list of build codes on a sticker in the glove box.

The F150's manual is 312 pages long. No reference to Electronic Stability Control in the index. Thumbing through it, I couldn't find anything that seemed like it might treat the subject. OTOH, maybe that's one of those transparent features that there's nothing to say about in a user manual.

OTOOH, this thing lacks side air bags.. so....

What I was trolling for in my OP was somebody who knew the vehicles and could say "No, they did not even offer ESC in 2005" or "Yes, all 2005 F150s are equipped with it...".

As already stated, it did not have any until 2009 model year. As for side air bags, most light trucks did not get them until about 2010 or later.

If there is stability control, then there must be a button to turn the system off.

Well, perhaps "must" is a bit strong, but generally these kinds of things have a default operation of being activated, and there is a button you can use to deactive the system until the button is pressed again OR the engine is turned off and back on.

If you are stuck in a snow bank, you would not want stability control to impeed your ability to get out, so you would want a button to disable the system until you got back onto the road.

You may not want the system to IMPEDE your ability to get out of a snow bank either.
