Ford TFI Class Action

On October 29, 2003, the Supreme Court of British Columbia certified the lawsuit of Barbara Reid against Ford Motor Company and Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited / Ford du Canada Limitee as a class proceeding. This lawsuit concerns the design and manufacture of vehicles equipped with a distributor-mounted thick film ignition module ("TFI module"). Branch MacMaster and Camp Fiorante Matthews are the lawyers for Ms. Reid and for the Class, which comprises British Columbia residents who:

(a) currently own or lease a 1983 through 1995 model year Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle with a distributor mounted TFI module ("Class Vehicle");

(b) owned or leased a Class Vehicle and paid or were charged for the cost of replacing or repairing a TFI module in such vehicle; or

(c) purchased or leased a Class Vehicle when that vehicle was new and paid or were charged for the cost of replacing or repairing a TFI module in such vehicle.

The Supreme Court of British Columbia has ordered that copies of the Notice of Certification and the Opt Out Form be posted on relevant newsgroups, and hence the reason for this posting. If you are a member of the Class, you will be automatically included in the lawsuit, unless you complete and return an Opt Out form to Branch MacMaster by June 15, 2004.
