Outside Temp

I have a new 2004 F150SC with the 5.4L, it is auto with trailer towing package. Power windows, locks, tilt, CC, CD player with tape and power seat and power pedals. OK, that describes my truck. When I picked it out from our local dealer it was in the summer and the tem here in el paso was about

108F.

When the salesman got into the truck he noticed that the temp reading on the command console was reading 79F, he said that needed to be fixed and I agreed. To make a long story short. it is now 6 months later and the service manager basically told me that I will never get this fixed. he has been working on Fords for 20 years and I could persue this but not with him.

I have a few questions to anyone out there, is this a normal problem and if not does anyone have either the email address or phone number of the ford people in Dearborn.

I hope someone out there can offer me some help, I know this isn;t a huge problem but as I have to look at that stupid wrong temp every time I drive my truck it has a tendency to raise the temp of my blood.

Many thanks to you all...

Joe

You don't have to go to "people in Dearborn". Go to your dealer and go to the service desk and ask for an appointment with the Ford zone rep. They will set you up an appointment with the rep to see if you can get the Problem resolved, or they might instantly find a way to fix it without bringing in the zone rep. It depends on how many customers are asking to ratchet up the complaints. Tom J who has a temp gauge that does work!!

And if your state has a "lemon law", call the consumer advocacy agency and get them involved.

My understanding of 'lemon law' was that applicability was limited to items 'critical to driver safety' - brakes, steering, engine... even seat mounts... but certainly not OATs, for which repairs efforts were failures three or more times.

At least that's how it was explained to me in California. I'd be interested if there's differences elsewhere - particularly as applies to Florida - the new home state.

Depends on the state that wrote the law.

No problem, today's your (not really so) lucky day. Every statute is available from the Florida Senate's Website:

While not called the "Lemon Law" (except as a nickname), you'll find Florida's under Title XXXIX, Chapter 681.

I'll not post it here, nor comment on how it's any different than California's. I will, if requested, email a copy and paste of it to anyone web challenged enough that's having trouble sleeping or is in a great desire to procure a headache. Suffice to say that it's got hoops, and loops, enough that Florida's got some lawyers that specialize in it.
