Odd problem. It appears that occaisionally the rear brake lights stay on after turning off the engine and removing the keys. My first thought is the switch that must be near the actual brake pedal in the Windstar.
Anybody else seen this and is my first thought a correct assumption?

yes , sounds like the brake switch needs a slight adjustment

Sounds to me like you have a straight short to ground on your brake switch. When it does it the next time, disconnect the switch, and see if they stay on. If they dont, then you know its the switch. If they do, then you know you have to go lookin elsewhere for the ground concern.
