Vibration between 65 & 75 mph

Tail sharft maybe. I had this problem over 50 mph in a old 1958 holden. When in doubt, borrow some wheels from somewhere. Might even be a rim causing it.

U-joints

My F150 started vibrating at 60+ mph. A couple weeks later the rear univeral on the driveshaft started knocking.

I've never had a u-joint that was speed specific, RPMs don't affect the vibration at all and it doesn't transmit through the shifter or steering wheel.

Maybe, the U-joint seems tight and every bad u-joint I've had, including this truck, has vibrated at various speeds. RPMs don't affect the vibration at all and it doesn't transmit through the shifter. I can't rule it out completely but I don't think it is the u-joint.

The reason I suspected the tires is that it started after I had to slam on the brakes hard. The tire shops said the tires are fine.

Huh... maybe something got knocked loose inside the rear wheel.

Try rotating the tires and see if the vibration subsides. That truck is really light in the back and you shouldn't notice the tire imperfections when you put them on the front. You said that you took the tires to two separate shops? Did these shops check the runout using a laser displacement sensor? Simple balancing might not catch this problem. My suspicions are if you had a nice cloud of white smoke you are now the proud owner of a couple of flat spots on them tires. If you want to pursue this you will need to have the tires shaved. It's not worth the aggravation in my opinion.
