Well...my search for a decent truck continues.
On a lot yesterday sat a 2001 F350 with 86k miles (v10 gas; auto 2WD). They are asking $11,900. I could probably buy it for a grand or so less...
Pretty decent shape; ran great. But...somebody lowered it! The gas tanks are maybe 6" from the ground!
How do they accomplish this...and what's involved in getting it back to normal?

The ways to lower a vehicle are legion. Lowering blocks in the rear if the axle sits on top the springs, reverse shackles is another way. less arched springs, some idiot with a torch heating the springs till it drops. radical lowering is some times accompanied by "notching" the frame rails to clear the axle tubes. All of the same for the front if leaf springs , along with spindles designed to lower the vehicle. shorter coil springs or heating the springs with a torch till the vehicles settles. My advice, keep looking.
