1990 Buick Dashboard Display/Service Engine Question

Mar 01, 2005 5 Replies

this morning i was driving and as i was driving, the check engine light flicked on, then off almost imediately... then at the same time a light right above the gas guage flicked as well, so fast i couldnt tell what it was... I had more then 1/2 a tank of gas at the time.

Anyway... about 2 hours later, i was accelerating to highway speed and the car bucked, and jerked before kicking into speed... the service engine light came on and stayed on.... until i shut the car off when i started it back up, the light was off....

the car had no problem reaching highway speed after that......

my questions are:

1) what is the light above the gas guage, i couldnt find it in the manual. I had more then 1/2 a tank of gas at the time.

2) any idea what the buck was?

65,000 miles.

When you turn the key to the "run" position, all the dash lights should light up for a second or two. Unless the bulb burned out as it came on.

not all the lights come on, a few stay off, the one above the gas gauge is one of them.

Try shinging a flashlight in the area where the light is, maybe you'll see the outline.

Steve

Why bother responding in the first place if your clueless.
