2009 Buick LaCrosse Check...Error Msgs ?

May 14, 2010 4 Replies

Hello,

Have a 2009 Buick LaCrosse. Low mileage; only about 10K on it.

Today, for the first time, three icons lit up while driving:

Check ABS Check Traction Control Check Stability Control

Also, a small text message also, to Check... (I forget which of the three the text message came up for)

Wow !

Went away after about 5 minutes, and hasn't reappeared.

But, thought I'd ask anyway-

Is this "just" likely a computer hick-up, or a one time transient ? Or, likely to reappear ? Or ?

All three errors: what might have caused ?

Thoughts on ?

Thanks, B.

Possbily a fluke, or a wheel sensor is very slightly out of adjustment. All are related, you need an (ABS compatible) scan tool to get the DTCs, and that will tell you what's up, and where.

It will be back, cars don't fix themselves. Is the dealer nearby? If so, call and stop in so they can put the computer on it and get the codes. All three of the mentioned items are all part of the same system. It may be the control module or a sensor. Best to get it checked under warranty as these parts can be very expensive.

Hi,

Thanks for advice and help; appreciate it.

One more question:

Error msgs seem to be (very)intermittent.

For the Dealership to get the codes, and a diagnosis, would the error message actually have to be appearing, or can they grab the error code at any time ?

Would it be the same code in either case ?

Regards, and thanks, Bob

The codes are in the computer of some period of time. I'm not sure what the period is or number of cycles though.
