Car Shuts Off When Going Through Puddle.

I have a 1995 caprice. It is a police car. Every time I go through a water puddle, the damn thing shuts right off and I have to sit there like an idiot for 5 minutes for the thing to start back up again. I thought it may be a distributor, but I cant find the distributor on the thing. Anybody know where it is, and is this a common problem on these cars?

Sounds like bad plug wires.

Check for missing splash shields around the wheel wells. Those are the rubber extentions that come down around the upper control arms.

Take a spray bottle full of water, and with engine running, squirt around until it conks out, last place squirted = first place to look
