Need to get a new battery tomorrow and just wondering if there is any certain procedure for removing old and installing new now a days? This is for a 2004 Pontiac Gran Prix. Thanks.

if you don't like reprogramming your radio, etc. get a lighter plug, a
9V battery clip, and a 9V alkaline battery. work the obvious magic and plug the lighter plug into the socket just before removing the first battery cable (should be negative)good luck

And don't open the door, etc., when the battery is disconnected, since that 9V battery won't last more than a fraction of a second trying to light the dome lights!
