GM V6 geneology questions...

Is the 3.5 in the Impala the same as what they offered in the 01 Oldsmobile Aurora?? Also as far as power wise, What is the difference between the 3.5 and 3.9 v6

Thank You

The engine used in the Aurora was a "short star," a DOHC V8 with two cylinders missing. The new 3.5 is a pushrod engine.

Also, thanks to Brad for the info on the new 3.5 and 3.9.

The two 3.5s are entirely different. The Aurora motor was a short production run V-6 adaptation of the Northstar V-8. The new 3.5 appears to be an evolution of the 3.4. I wonder if the intake manifold gaskets are going to hold or not ????
