who is really to blame.

If you want to blame someone, maybe the politicians, who could have increased MPGs by raising the price of gasoline and having consumers demand better mileage instead of keeping it low and letting people drive those big trucks without paying too much in gas costs. More right wing ideology backfires again. They could have increased gas taxes 5 cents a gallon each year to make it more and more costly to drive those vehicles but instead they sat and did nothing. Why do you think Canadians drive smaller vehicles on average? Because of the cost of gas.
