2002 HYUNDAI ACCENT CHANGING HEADLIGHTS

Hello

I purchased the bulb for the headlight but am having trouble removing the old bulb . Any instructions on how to remove old bulb and install new bulb would be most appreciated . The car's headlights are the regular headlights for this year and model .

Thank You Mason

I do these replacements by sight when I see them and don't remember which cars have which setups, so I'll give you some generic instructions. If you don't have the particular piece to do one of the steps, move on to the next step. I guarantee that'll happen at least once, because none of the cars have the plastic dust cover (step 1) as well as a rubber dust cover (step 3).

  1. If you have a plastic dust cover on the back of the lamp, remove it.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb.

  2. If you have a rubber dust cover over the back of the lamp, remove it.

  1. Push the spring clip in and move it away from the detent, releasing the bulb. There may be one or two ends on the clip that are held in place, and the direction necessary to move varies with car. You'll need to decipher how the clip attaches.

Thank you for your quick response . My car has a rubber dust cover I was afraid to pull the rubber cover off for fear of not getting it back on. I was able to peel the cover back but it seems like it is attached fairly securely . My question is do I just need to pull harder and is it easy to reattach the cover to the back of the headlight opening ?

Thanks Again Hyundaitech

Mason

If you've got the electrical connector off, the rubber dust cover should come off and go back on relatively easily.

Hello Hyundaitech

Thanks again . I was only able to remove a small piece of plastic from the back of the electrical connector . All this did was expose some wires but did not remove the elelectrical connector. I was able to snap the piece of plastic in place . Hopefully my last question to you is as I do not want to be a pest , how do I remove the electrical connector .

Thanks for all your help Mason

The electrical connector should pull off the headlamp. There may be a little tab on one side you need to depress to release the lock.

Thanks Hyundaitech for all your help . I was able to replace the bulb. I could not have done it without your help .

Regards Mason
