2015 Sonata 'Rumbling' Sound

Just bought a 2015 Sonata SE with the standard 2.4 liter engine. At 35 mph and ~ 1,300 rpm the engine makes a low frequency sound similar to a rumble. This happens especially when going up an incline. Dealer says diagnostic shows car is fine but that sound does not seem to be a happy one.

Any advice?

Thanx

Maybe they are all like that. Parts get thinner every year. See if the dealer will let you drive another one to compare.

Have you owned mostly V-8 and V-6 engines before? If this is your first

4 cylinder, you will hear and feel more low RPM noise and vibration than you are accustomed to.

From what you are describing, I would suspect it to lugging in too high a gear. Feels like an old stick shift when you forgot to downshift. All car makers are doing it now to get in higher gears to save on gas mileage. You can probably feel it as well as hear it.

My '15 Sonata also does this when it is in "ECO" mode. Switch it off for a few seconds and see if it goes away.

When E-brake is depressed, place car in neutral and then to drive. Does this cause the vibrating, rumble to appear? Press down on the air intake and the rumble, plastic like vibration noise goes away. Visiting the dealer again this week to resolve. Will post update soon

Did you get to the dealers yet, and if so, what was the result?
