Is it right that to remove the alternator from a 1996 Lantra 1.8 CD Auto, the driveshaft has to be disconnected/removed?
I don't think so. If this is the same vehicle as that in the U.S., the alternator is in the front near the radiator. After removing the oil filter, you should be able to take the belt off, unbolt the alternator, and take it out the bottom.
