KS51, Usually you can get a replacement door handle for about $65 from a junkyard that is in just about the same condition as a new one. The problem is that after you buy a new handle, it too will break. I have re-built all the door handles on my '88 XJ40 by creating a steel U-shaped support for all the legs that have a tendency to snap off. With these metal supports, the pressure is on the steel, not the cheaper pot or white metal Jag made these handles from. Usually these handles break because the linkage tot he door assembly has stiffened up. You need to go through all 4 doors and with a good lubricant, free up the mechanisms so it doesn't happen again.
