jaguar headlining

To those folk with saggy jag headlining I can offer the following advice, I am a cartrimmer and have just replaced headlining on 2 jags without removing rear window(DONT EVEN ATTEMPT UNLESS U HAVE SPECIALIST TOOLS & KNOW WHAT UR DOING)Although I cant remember exact models first one was old M reg (73?) this was easy as it was coupe version with no door pillars so with windows down it slipped out easy.Next was newer model private plate (80?upwards)with door pillars, with both you have to remove all obstuctions like light and side trimings so that headlining can fall free into car.In the case of model with pillars u have 2 take out rear seat (base only) & rear door panel out of which door u want 2 take it out, Recline both front seats totally flat and start 2 bend SLOWLY headlining in an upsidedown fashion (n) to slip out back door.Take it as slowly as u can 2 to minimise any damage 2 fibreboard.I must mention that doing this will release all the old crumbled foam and it will get in ur hair, eyes even soles of u shoes (white spirit helps) DONT EVEN THINK OF REGLUEING HEADLINING Strip it of put it in bin.Use a stiff brush 2 clean it complety (DO NOT USE WIRE BRUSH DAMAGE 2 BOARD MAY OCCUR) 2 Companys u can get replacemet headcloth r Boyriven and M.Segal in the U.K. Once out of car u r cheaper 2 take it 2 a proper cartrimmers 2 be fitted as the glue u r probably supplied with is a can of spray glue( which has no heat restistence) U can buy cans of glue out of B&Q or anywhere but it will last a week if ur lucky. U need 2 use a glue such as evosticks TIVOFIX which comes in 5 gallon cans and has 2 b applied via spray gun (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 4 MAN JOB CORNER 2 CORNER PULD TIGHT) I would go into more detail by photos but have just got digital camera and plan 2 photo next stripout. Any questions e-mail me
