How does one unlock all doors from the inside of the car while seated in the driver's position?

Pull out on the lock button above the doorlatch handle.

To unlock all the doors, you would need to unlock the drivers door. This happens whether the engine is running or stopped, at any point (other than with the remote, where you have to press the unlock button twice for all doors to open - which is also configurable).
The fun begins when your battery dies....and you have to get out of your car.. keep a cell phone handy and a window cracked open!!

On my '06 X-Type you open the lever immediately above the door-opening lever on the driver's door - all doors open then. Well, actually, they just unlock - you have to open them manually by hand :)
