I am hoping someone out there could help me out. when i would be braking, just before stopping my brakes would grab and the abs would kick in. it was quite a hard stop. after a few days of this the abs light came on and is on steady. the problem went away but the abs light is still on. i am assuming that with the abs light on, the unit is disabled. if anyone has an idea what would cause the brakes to grab like that, it would be appreciated.

There should be a fault code stored in the system. Bad or misaligned wheel sensor maybe? Bad connection to the ABS computer.
The ABS just before stop is due to one of two things.
1) failing ABS sensor (doesn't have to be failed, just marginal) 2) dirty ABS computer connector2 usually shows as a failure as you go over a bump with or without the brakes on.
First thing to do is to clean that connector.
