1996 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0L, manual trans, no ABS. the rear brakes were locking up, noticed that the park cables were not fully releasing and the drums were oversized. Replaced the park cables, shoes and drums, they worked great for about 2 days and are now locking up again, sometimes just a little, some times full lock up. the brake pedal feels firm, could this be the proportioning valve, the master cyl was replaced about a year ago.

Given the age it could be crap built up in the brake piston. Others have reported aging brake hoses.
Did you adjust the park brake cable? Did you replace the spring kit?
