1997 ZJ Maintenance Items- What are the best brands?

Jun 17, 2004 2 Replies

Hello Group,

I am planning on having some maintenance work done on my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The Jeep is a daily driver with 94k miles on it. 5.2L V8 Engine.

I want to go ahead and replace the following items. Please give me your opinions as to what the best brands are for the different items.

  1. Shocks- I'm currently looking at the Doetsch Tech DT-3000 Shocks. Are these a good overall non-gas shock?

  1. Steering Stabilizer- Can anyone recommend a good one? I understand that there is one by Old Man Emu that is pretty good. I believe Doetsch Tech also makes one.

  2. Spark Plugs- OEM or Aftermarket? Is Autolite a good brand? They seem to have a good reputation and are very easy to find locally.

Are there any other items that I should be replacing at this mileage (94k)??? All major fluids have been changed within the past 6k miles.

Thanks! James

These are good shocks I have as set of Doetsch Tech for my lifted TJ.

I have a skyJacker and really like it. Most people in my 4x4 club are running it.

After market - get the Platinum Spark Plug they burn cleaner

1) air filter. 2) Transmission oil 3) Check the brakes 4) Radiator flush 5) brake fluid flush

Lost of things to check!
