2" Body Lift

Looking for peoples thoughts on a 2" body lift for an '03 TJ..... Was recently on a trail behind an '02 Sahara and he was sporting 2" spacer lift and 2" body lift and 33's with nice flex and no rubbing.... looked great! I need tires soon and just can't afford much for lift at the moment ..... and I'm hoping to get on 33's

let's hear some good and bad.... they say the trails I ride that I need

32-33's

Thanks, Jeff '03 TJ

Body lifts cause a few other problems that you need to be aware of. Your transmission/transfer case shifters will sink into the console for one. It can create undo stress on the body that might cause warping and cracks for another. There may be other issues (as on CJ's) that I am not aware of, having not done a TJ.

Good points are inexpensive and relatively easy to install. If you do it, be sure to anti-seize the bolts so you can get them back out (when you finally remove the lift, save your original spacers and bolts too).

I removed the 2" body lift from my CJ that the previous owner installed.

I would consider a 1" body lift to be the maximum. 2" and 3" start putting too much stress on the tub. If you look at any of the larger body lifts after a couple of years you will notice they all lean forward. This is because the tub shifts forward due to the stresses placed on the mounts during braking. A 1" body lift is not too bad, and allows you to hose the mud out a little better than stock. Also, if combined with a 1" taller motor mount you will not have to relocate the radiator and you will get a little better driveline angle.

stay away from any body lift over 1" if you are going to go offroad had a 2" for about 6 months and had 3 pucks on the passengerside brake at the same time! NOT GOOD! you would be better with a 3" suspension lift for 33's you could get away with a 2" spacer lift and 1" body lift then you can add the

1" motormounts to get every thing ligned up so you dont have to drop anything.
