My guess is that the demographic they were courting (middle aged females) wasn't buying enough, so they decided to go for the jacked up, 45" lo-profile, more stereo than good taste, vehicle hip-hop crowd.

Glad there isn't going to be one in MY driveway.

It's me snitches! I'm a huge fan of the chromed out grill. If this model is like most of the Cherokee / Grand Cherokee lines, there will be more rugged looking models available.

my guess is they were jealous that Ford had made a more ugly and boxy vehicle in the Discovery 3, and after a failed attempt to beat them with the Commander, had another attempt with this. Almost reminds me of the nasty bodykit on the YJ Renegade but I guess that "styling cue" is now part of the Jeep "heritage".

If it isn't a G-Wagen, it isn't an SUV. Now if you are referring to the whatever they call it ? RL series ? surface-running modern generation of the Hindenberg, yes, it is fugly. Not even fugly in the Aztek modern art interpretation of fugly, just big, bloated, exessively rounded, and about as interesting visually as Roseanne Barr in a tight bikini. [get THAT image out of your mind quickly...]
