86 Comanche have catalytic converter?

Just bought a 2.5L TBI 2WD auto. The obviously aftermarket exhaust system lacks a catalytic converter. Did all Comanche's of this year have one? The muffler shop parts book specifies specs "with converter" which implies that some did not have a converter. There are no mounting holes or welds that I can find where a heat shield would have been mounted to the floor pan. I'm going to have to get emissions tested before I get permanent tags.

If you are in Canada, you don't 'have' to have one.

Even on our 88, the inspection doesn't call for a visual on a CAT.

It still has to pass a sniffer though.....
