'96 ZJ Rear Dana 35C housing issue

I've heard of the issue about a warped Dana 35C carrier housing from jacking the trunk up under the rear, but has anyone hear of the Pinion input housing area warping?

Situation: pinion bearing were singing, appeared to be a bearing issue.

Upon pulling it apart, my mechanic says it's the pinion input portion of the housing is now too big. He can easly put the bearing race in with this hands and also remove it that way.

In talking to several gear shops, this is a known issue and I'll have to replace the whole axle housing now. Ouch!!

New housing with everything but the axles and brakes are $1500 but I get a 75K mile/3yr warranty.

I'd hate to replace with a used one that is already ahead of the game in heading me back down the same road.

I wouldn't spend $1500 on a D35C unless you don't wheel it. That could easily put an 8.8 or something else under there.
