Wrangers don't have autolocking hubs. The YJ used a vacuum actuated axle disconnect contraption on the two-piece passenger side axle shaft.

There are vacuum lines running to the axle on the passenger side. Sounds like one is off or broken. Those lines also run 'real' close to the exhaust pipe and I have seen a few that got melted back near the transfer case.

One other thing, if you only have one wheel spinning, you can bang on the brake pedal while giving it gas and when you load up the spinning wheel with the brake, the torque needed to turn the wheel will equal the torque needed to break the not moving wheel loose from the ground. That way you can get both back wheels and if you are really good all 4 spinning. Even with open diffs.

My owners manual mentions that using the e-brake can do the same, but I have had better luck punching/pulsing the brake pedal hard.
