Anyone used "lock-right" diffs?

I have a chance to buy at a pair with low ratio r&ps for my 44s Known to make noise, but are they durable?

Probably the single best upgrade I have done to my jeep. I run them both front and back. Bought one on eBay for $150, and the other one used locally for $150. Installed them both myself. There are pro's and cons for sure. Pros were that for $300 and some time I am not fully locked. Obstacles that were not possible before or that I had to "get a run at" I now just idle over.

I drive my jeep as a daily driver, so I had to change some driving habits. The first time driving up the parking garage at work was like a bucking bronco ride, I really thought that something had broken. I quickly learned how to either push in the clutch and coast around the corners, or give it extra gas and power around the corners to avoid the ratchet effects. I occasionally get some bad noises from the lockers as well. When they "unload" it makes a terrible sound, first time I heard it I figured that something had broken for sure. And there is some ratchet sounds that it makes as you coast around corners.

I think they are great (when properly installed)! Mine has work flawlessly in the CJ! I can't even tell the one is in the front when in 2-WD. The rear will ratchet when coasting around a turn.

I'd be putting Detroit lockers in a D44, not the LockRights. The Detroit locker is a much stronger unit. the Detroit is a medium duty unit, the Lockright is a light duty. The LockRight is great for the front differential, but I don't think it makes much sense in the rear, especially with a D44. It would be okay with a D35, because the locker and the diff are comparable units, light duty. The D44 is a stronger diff, you should use the stronger locker.

I was going to split all the stuff the guys has with a friend who wanted what i dont, but now he don't. Now it's not a good deal for me, and a 600 mile trip to get it, so it won't happen. New plan is to buy a new set of thick 4.88s and an OX for the rear, then use my Powr-Lok up front. I went to a spring shop with the Chero that will donate the frame and axles, and had the guy take measurements to raise the chassis a full foot. It's a

74 with post rears, so I'm going to install under-chassis normal hangers and springover the front.
