The cat converter was clogged on my TJ and I cleaned it out. Now the check engine light comes on. I have reset the computer by d/c the bat for 10 minutes but it came on again. O2 sensor? I don't want to start replacing sensors without cause. Any thoughts? Where should I start to check?

If your cat was clogged it was because your engine was running way too rich. Bet your plugs have lots of black carbon on them, your performance was stink and gas mileage was way down.
replace your O2 sensor, it's shot. If you don't you will be replacing another clogged cat.
You have to have a working cat to keep the light off. OBD2 requires the PCM to check for cat efficiency. Obviously, yours isn't very efficient if you have "cleaned it out."

That depends on if you have two O2 sensors.
If you only have an O2 sensor upstream from the Cat then yes, it will work. If you have one upstream and one downstream then no, it will not work (although I have been told that second sensor can be faked out since all it does is throw a trouble code).
