The difficult part of contracepting deer is finding people willing to go out and put the little condoms on the bucks every Saturday night. ___________________________________________________________ tw

I shall endeavor to change that in the coming 10 days.

The DNR is working hard at remdying that. If you play the license game properly (encouraged by the DNR for specific areas) you can take a total of 6 deer. But they have to be mostly does.
Most of the local suburbs have quiet "control programs", results go to either deer hunters or local food shelves. But none of that helps when the local tree huggers treat any urban deer as pets and make a big stink.

My mother feeds the deer and any other critters that will come up to the back porch.
My dad has been threatening to thin the household herd since the later 70's but hasn't ......

You are a good man, be sure to scratch and spit while doing so. Get extra grubby and come home reeking of buck scent and stale beer.

My mother used to feed the critters too... and she did quite a nice job of herd thinning as well ;¬)

Corn, usually.....

Ahem. I don't scratch or spit......as far as you know.
.....also, it's doe scent, and the only thing stale beer is good for is making hot mustard dip.
......but a couple of steaks you've got, just 'cause you seem to be a good sport.
Wish me luck, I'm leaving in the morning.

Like I said.. Dad has been threatening for years... well... decades now but despite his grumbling he planted fruit trees and bushes to attract them into the yard. He just doesn't want to admit that he did it for mom as she enjoys seeing the critters ...
I gotta admit to feeding them up into the yard too. I love to see them in the yard, just not on the side of the road. I let a couple of my friends hunt on my property in exchange for enough meat to keep us in jerky most of the rest of the year, so my feeding has at least one welcome side effect.
