easy to replace interior plastic door panel on TJ?

Mine is cracked... happened up at elk camp when it was cooooold.

This is the large plastic "sheet" that is molded to form, basically, the interior of the full-size hard door on a TJ.

I'd like to take it off and try to glue it, since the new part is $125. There's no functional problem, just cosmetic.

How well glue is going to work depends on the plastic. Some plastics require special solvents.

Somewhere on the backside will be a marking for the grade/type of plastic. Once you find this you then can use that information to determine what glue to use. A good hardware or hobby store will have several types to choose from.

Or you could take this as an opportune time to learn upholstery and cover the panel in cloth or vinal.

My driver's side panel cracked when the dealer removed it to fix an electronic door lock mechanism. It was extremely cold and the plastic was very brittle at that temperature. They had to order a new panel, but in the interim they used some rubbery based adhesive (looked like tile adhesive) and glued the broken corner on that way. It looked really good. Tto be honest, I never would have noticed if they had not told me it had been broken. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it had to be some general purpose goop they keep around at the dealership for such problems.

Good luck,
