has my shock gone bad?

When I lift the xj with the wheels off the axel, one side of the front axel hangs way lower than the other, and if I stand on it, I can't get it to go lower.

Me thinks the shock is blown and won't let it go down all the way. I can't understand because its not getting caught up on anything else?

They are old man emu nitro shocks.

The shocks shouldn't stop the movement of the tire under those conditions unless it is broken. The tire should be controlled in that case by the springs, not the shocks. I would be wondering why the other tire is hanging low, that sounds like a possible broken spring.

CRWLR did pass the time by typing:

Or a question of which side has the track bar on it. :)

the track bar connects to the axel on the passenger side, which won't hang as far as the drivers,

the drivers is at full drop with the springs off the axel, u can see the shock is at full extension, however there is a few inches yet to go on the passenger shock. its a 4.5 inch lift with emu nitro shocks,

I wonder if it really is the track bar!? I forget now if the track bar was attached last year when I remember the axels hanging really far down. However this would be a poor design if the passenger side has a few more inches yet to drop......confused?

My TJ doesn't droop as far on one side b/c of the track bar, sounds like you have a normal condition.

So I hear...but there aren't enough real jeeps to go around.
