Help with weeping oil near rear of oil pan

Sep 27, 2006 2 Replies

I have an 05 tj that I recently did a hundred mile off road trip. No rock crlawing just some really steep hills. Got it home to check the under carriage and I notice between the rear of the oil pan and bell housing there seems to be a large round rubber gasket or seal that has a small leak. It seeps it seems, no drips or puddling. Is this normal after some steep hills or should I take it to a dealer and tell them to replace whatever?

Thx!

If you were going steep enough to put the oil line over the rear seal, then yes it can leak a bit. Suggest you wipe the pan down, and check the back of the block below the valve cover, just in case the valve cover leaked a bit. In the next week or so, go back and look again.
