Jeep Cherokee Sport 1999 Tire Question...

I am not sure if this is appropriate newsgroup to be posting questions on a car. I have 1999 Cherokee Jeep Sport and I haven't changed tire for past 4 years. I still have some treads left on my wheel but I think it's time to get a new set of wheels before my tire blow up on me while driving.

I've searched for tires online and here are what I found online.

my original tire: Jeep Cherokee Sport 1999 - Goodyear Wrangler RT/S M+S P225 / 75R15 102S

I am confused about the price difference between different brands. Which one should I buy for my Jeep

Cherokee Sport 1999? Any advice will be appreciated.

My Profile: I don't use vehicle for off roading. I just drive from point A to point B. Once in a while I find

myself driving at high speed.

Oh...one extra question... Does anyone know what tire pressure I should maintain for good gas mileage & good control of my

jeep? Tire says max PSI @ 44 psi

Thank you in advance... Oktokie

I don't see any car questions???? ;-)

You have a Jeep, not a 2 ton truck or a car though so you really should look on the door frame or in the glove box for the tire pressure sticker. 30 psi is called for on my 88 Cherokee.

The 'only' time you go to the max pressure the tire can carry is when you are putting a full load on the tire. Unless you have a 2 ton or better, fully loaded truck, you will not be anywhere close to the max load for the tire.

You don't mention the weather conditions you are expecting to see.

Mike, don't you get better gas mileage if you up the tire pressure to the maximum allowed on the sidewall?
