Is this such a goofy question no one will answer??
LOL!
I was busy. Clockwise screws it in which leans it out.
The stepper's pins go all the way into the carb for a full rich on them, then you fine tune it with the front screws.
If it won't lean out, then suspect blocked idle tubes.

Ok, thanks Mike
Does this screw only effect idle mixture?
thanks Jason
I don't know, but I believe so.
Therefore, my addition to this question is:
Are the metering pins/stepper motor/cancerous growth on the BBD only for idle mixture?
nutters has been done as well
I think if we ignored goody questions this news group would be pretty empty. I've had my share answered lately.
The front screws are the main idle mix. Once up in the rpm, it uses the metering rods in addition.
I 'think' the stepper was still in effect at speed by using the O2 sensor, but wonder about that. There are others here that know the computer system, maybe one of them will chip in.
The carb needs to be set to best lean mix still, then the computer adds it's $0.02's worth.

Yes, but... The metering rods inside mechanically and vacuum adjust the high speed in addition to them so if the idle is too rich, it will be too rich all the way up.

Yes, the "idle mixture screws" are only for idle mixture. However, get them too rich and they can affect mixture at higher RPM also.
No. The stepper motor has 2 pins mounted on it. One is for the idle circuit, the other is for the main circuit.
I dont have a stepper motor, I changed the carb to one that doesn't have it
thanks mike. it's running nice now.
Read my reply a little closer and you'll see that it wasn't to you, it was to "Steve Foley", who asked about the stepper motor.
so what carb DO you have?
