Mods for '04 JGC 4.7 ??

Question

Hi all,just replaced the daily driver with a '04 2wd WJ withthe V-8 engine (the standard, not the HO).Love the power of the engine, but heh, you can always use more, right ?Any good & inexpensive mods to get more power or improve thecar in any other way ?I think it could use a bigger steering dampener - opinions ?Also the stock speakers aren't great - suggestions ?Any opinions on how good the head unit (standard radio/w CD)is, when I replace the speakers ? I love the steering wheel controlsfor the radio and would hate losing it when going with an aftermarketradio. Not looking for concert hall sound, just a decent setup.Thanks in advance,JJ

JJ did pass the time by typing:Always. :)Depending on the year, the 04 V8 can benefit by putting a spacerbetween the intake snorkel and the throttle body.  You will know ifthe plastic intake runner is real thin (1" or so) vs the 1.5" higherunit they replaced it with.(I'm not 100% on the height, just aware of the problem)Aftermarket cat-back/dual exhaust will help.Stay away from the airswirly things and throttle body spacersthey don't do squat.It could probably use a new one.  In my experience, the steeringdamper has about a 4 year lifetime.Heh.. check my sig.  I like MbQuartMy site will give you some options to work on.  Amps and head unitsare more capable now and you probably don't want to go as far as I did.(unless you want to compete in audio) :)

It's not all in the spacing between the intake and TB but also the duct size in the intake runner. It's necked down too tightly and restricts airflow as well.

Can't find the original website. The process involved splitting the intake runner just above the throttle body and using sheet tin to fill in the gap. Wish I could find the silly site. :( At any rate a newer intake from jeep or a junkyard might be easier.

I believe Doug was thinking of the early 5.2L ZJ setup.  There is no suchproblem with the 4.7L WJ.
